Before Your Dental Appointment
General Instructions
- Brush and floss your teeth before your appointment.
- Eat a light meal unless instructed otherwise.
- Continue taking your regular medications unless advised by your dentist.
- Inform your dentist about any medical conditions, allergies, or medications.
- Bring previous dental records or X-rays if available.
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
- Avoid smoking before your appointment.
- Inform us immediately if you develop fever or illness before your visit.
After Dental Implant Surgery
- Bite gently on the gauze pack for 30–60 minutes.
- Apply an ice pack for the first 24 hours.
- Take all prescribed medications as directed.
- Eat soft foods for several days.
- Avoid smoking and alcohol during healing.
- Do not spit forcefully or use a straw for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 48–72 hours.
- Maintain good oral hygiene while avoiding the surgical site.
- Attend all follow-up appointments.
After Tooth Extraction
- Bite on the gauze until bleeding stops.
- Do not rinse vigorously for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid smoking and drinking through a straw.
- Eat soft, cool foods.
- Apply ice packs to reduce swelling.
- Begin warm salt-water rinses after 24 hours.
- Avoid touching the extraction site.
- Contact your dentist if bleeding or severe pain persists.
After Root Canal Treatment
- Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until numbness wears off.
- Take prescribed medications if required.
- Mild tenderness for a few days is normal.
- Return for your permanent filling or crown as advised.
- Maintain good oral hygiene.
After Dental Crown Placement
- Avoid sticky foods for the first 24 hours.
- Brush and floss normally.
- Mild sensitivity to hot and cold is common initially.
- Contact us if the crown feels loose or your bite feels uneven.
- Attend regular dental check-ups.
After Teeth Whitening
- Avoid coffee, tea, red wine, cola, turmeric, and tobacco for 48 hours.
- Follow a “white diet” during the first two days.
- Brush gently with a soft toothbrush.
- Mild sensitivity is temporary.
- Use desensitizing toothpaste if recommended.
After Scaling & Teeth Cleaning
- Mild gum sensitivity or slight bleeding may occur.
- Brush gently with a soft toothbrush.
- Continue flossing daily.
- Avoid smoking for 24 hours.
- Maintain excellent oral hygiene.
After Braces or Clear Aligners
- Eat soft foods for the first few days after adjustments.
- Avoid hard, sticky, and chewy foods.
- Brush carefully around brackets or aligners.
- Wear aligners for 20–22 hours daily.
- Attend scheduled orthodontic appointments.
- Wear retainers as instructed after treatment.
After Wisdom Tooth Removal
- Rest for the remainder of the day.
- Apply ice packs to reduce swelling.
- Eat soft foods.
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, and strenuous activity.
- Begin warm salt-water rinses after 24 hours.
- Return if swelling, fever, or severe pain develops.
When Should You Contact Your Dentist?
Please contact us immediately if you experience:
- Persistent bleeding.
- Severe or increasing pain.
- Swelling that worsens after 2–3 days.
- Fever or chills.
- Pus or foul-smelling discharge.
- Difficulty swallowing or breathing.
- A loose implant, crown, or restoration.
- Any unusual symptoms or concerns.
